PUBLICATIONS

Peggy is also a writer-poet of her own original content. However, because of what she has been blessed to do in her life, there are also published books that feature her or her recounts/quotes. Some select books are noted below…

Edited by Faith S. Holsaert, Martha Prescod Norman Noonan, Judy Richardson, Betty Garman Robinson, Jean Smith Young, and Dorothy M. Zellner                                                                                           (University of Illinois Press)

This award-winning book captures Peggy's story–in the chapter It Was Simply in My Blood” (see below)–and those of her SNCC sisters.  Awards the book has received include: Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change’s National Book Award; the Letitia Woods Brown Book Award (sponsored by the Association of Black Women Historians); and the 42nd NAACP Image Award  Nomination for Outstanding Literary Work, Nonfiction (click here for a hardcover, paperback or eBook)

by Danny Lyon with Foreword by Julian Bond                                      (Twin Palms Publishers)

This book not only includes SNCC stories, but they’re relayed via the lens of author, Danny Lyon, who was SNCC’s first official staff photographer. Therefore, it features photos of Peggy and her fellow SNCC members.  (In fact, she's featured on the cover, in the top center photograph)… (click here for a hardcover, including a first edition or a Danny Lyon autographed edition, for a paperback, click here)
